July 4, 2019

We had a super time at the Indy Indians baseball game on July 4.  We go to games year after year because the set up is perfect.  We watch the game then stay in our seats and watch fireworks in the outfield.  THEN we stay a little longer and watch the downtown Indy fireworks right from our comfy chairs.  Speaking of comfy...This year we had a suite!! It was a blast!!  We were treated like royalty with a buffet dinner of hot dogs and hamburgers plus beer and soda and side dishes fit for a baseball game.  It was a hot night so it was super nice to be able to go in and out of the suite to cool off.  We could look into other suites from ours and noticed that everyone had the same food and wait staff.

Maria made the coolest Koozies (Huggies, canholders, etc).  Whatever you call them, these were so cute.  One side said Baseball with the Biasi's and the other said July 4, 2019 Indianapolis Indians.  She is so talented!  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of Maria or Nick except in the group picture.  I will work on that for next year!!

Summer Houseguest

This summer we have a guest.  Leah graced us with the chance to take care of her boyfriend's bunny.  Her name is Bambi which I think is the dumbest name so I just call her Bunny. She was small when we got her but she has grown considerably.  She lives in Bob's office and has a sweet set up.

We laid down an extra carpet to protect our floors.  Bunny is a good rabbit and uses a litter box.

When she wants to get your attention she throws food or litter. The shop vac is right next to her pen so we can keep the area clean.
She doesn’t mind hopping into her carrier even if Bob is talking her to the vet.

She has a little hideout but Bunny spends a lot of time on top of it instead of in it.

The vet is very nice and a recent Purdue grad.

This is Bunny’s favorite way to relax.  The internet claims that this position is very comfortable for rabbits and shows she is not threatened.

Overall I have to say she’s a very nice pet and not expensive. But when she leaves I won’t be running out to buy another rabbit!

Bob, his mom and I went to visit mom and dad in Illinois for Father's Day weekend.  The flooding there was just horrible. The above picture was taken from a restaurant we like to go to in the bluffs of Grafton, IL.  We also like to eat at a place near that white building out in the water.  When the river is at a normal level that house is on the banks.

Happy Father's Day Dad!

More views of the flood.

Mom, Mary and me at lunch.

This is me on the 7th hole at the Westlake Country Club.  I hate this hole.  When I was 13 I had the worst golf score ever because of this hole.  I'll never forget it!

The guys braved the rain and attended a Men's Stag.  Don't they look handsome?

Today we are watching the Tour de France in Brussels. The twins are home for the weekend and we are reminiscing about when we watched the Tour de France riders fly through our little town of Overijse. All we had to do was walk to the end of our street and there they were back in 2010!!  Yesterday the route was exactly the same as it was in 2010 and the riders sped past our old street of Tuindelle. We loved living in Brussels and it’s fun to see the sites that were so familiar to us for 4 wonderful years.  I would do the whole thing again if I had the chance!

Zucchini already!

Our garden is flourishing again this year! Bob started most of our plants inside and then transplanted them at just the right time. We didn’t have to fight off frost or flood so everything is doing very well. Our beans are big but a rabbit is eating every bloom and bean. Bob put up mesh so no one but us can eat the bounty!
The garden is in the same spot as last year but the rows run north to south instead of east to west. We have too many tomatoes and not enough peppers in my opinion. Bob has also tried to plant artichokes this year. The rabbit nibbled practically all the leaves so we will buy something at Home Depot to grow in its place. All the herbs were moved out to pots on the deck.
Because Bob started everything under lights in the basement we already have zucchini!!! The one on the right could have used a few more days in the garden but we ate it last night anyway. Here is my favorite zucchini recipe. I absolutely love it. The only change we make is to bake the zucchini boats in the oven for about 10-15 before we fill them. If you don’t do that the boats themselves are inedible.

We must go back to Italy. That’s right. My only option is book a flight right now. Really I must go. Why? Well we broke a glass. It us so sad when this happens. The glass above is an example of the set of 12 (minus1) glasses I have from Burano Italy. In 2010 we went to the CAM Forno glass studio and factory and purchased an entire set including champagne flutes and highball glasses. They are beautiful. Unfortunately one has broken. While we still lived in Belgium we actually went to the facility twice. The second time in 2012 was to buy another glass that had broken plus we bought a beautiful vase. I have emailed CAM Forno but no one has written be back. I think I’ll just hop on a plane and pick up another wine glass!  Want to come along?!?

Having our twins at the same college was just perfect.  Bob and I were able to enjoy Leah and Jenn and their college journey together.  The...
